Rooting device
« on: December 08, 2010, 11:20:35 PM »
There are a number of methods to root a device, much of which depends on the version and settings of the android  system.

1.One absolutely guaranteed method of rooting the device requires the removal of the internal SD card, insertion into a computer system and then modification of various files or sectors within the image. Since this is  a Linux based system the procedure is well documented on Linux forums.

2. Rooting applications:

3. Using android development kit:
  • For USB
Code: [Select]
adb USB
adb shell

  • For TCP/IP network
Identify the device TCP/IP address on the network:
I.E   192.168.5.27
Then find the device details
Code: [Select]
adb connect 192.168.5.27:55555
adb devices

My utopia device will not connect TCP/IP out of the box.

I use ADB Wireless. Install and put Widget on a desktop. press the button and presto it wonnects over TCP/IP.

well I don't think the utopia device need the z4root app because it already exported the root shell to end user.

What app needs is the superuser apk to link with the su command, see: http://bbs.cnddu.com/thread-1-1-1.html  (in Chinese)

Yep its a bit of a good job...........
Thanks for this , I'm going to try something......
If it is possible to root a remote  Pad device via ADB. Potentially this could be a significant security hole,  since if you are in a 'public' host spot you are in the same network.

There is widget to turn wireless ADB on/off but no notification if there is a connection.

Don't see any log entry either.

My tablet is apad 2 speakers, no screws. z4root didn't work and then I found superoneclick which needs pc and usb connection to root it.
