Main CPU board and location of Flash card
« on: May 07, 2011, 06:12:41 AM »
I would just like to say thanks to the guys at Utopia....

That is thanks for making it so difficult to remove the SD Card, we now have to:
  • Remove the base of the pad computer, by removing 2 screws and CAREFULLY popping open the base one tab at a time
  • Undo 4 screws holding down the main CPU board
  • Disconnect two of those really awful plastic ribbon cables
  • Finally Slide open the  SD card retainer that is holding the SD card into the socket.

Below we can see the  CPU board of the new A10/G10

Unfortunately the current SD Card holder design is not a simple 'pull' type, nor is the PCB board mounted the other way up, so I'm afraid a complete disassembly of the central CPU PCB is required to gain access to the  SD Card.

The observant readers will also notice the board has been reduced in size.
This new board is a slim 7cm*6cm whereas the previous Imx515 PCB was 7cm*8cm, most of the loss has been accomplished by loosing the space taken up by the backup battery (which was not fitted in the old A8)
